What is RAS_EDI ?

RAS_EDI was originally developed as the missing bit of the computer jigsaw for stationery dealers using SAGE Line 50 Accounts. But it was not restricted to only stationery dealers, it could be used in any situation where data required to transferred in or out of SAGE.

RAS_EDI developments over the years
- A Ledger Data In module that could import sales or purchase account data into SAGE. This module was added as part of a project to integrate RAS_EDI more closely with an individual client's daily order processing application.
- Batch mode operation was enabled for the Product Data In, Orders In, Transaction Data In and Ledger Data In modules. This mode of operation enabled users to process their data with a single click. It also permited any of the batch processes to be instigated from within another application.
- General purpose import modules for both product data and order data files.
- A reports module that could run quite complex bespoke reports to get data out of SAGE into csv files.
- Import modules for orders coming from Superstat, OfficePoint and CommerceXchange were added.
Additional benefits
- Single master menu which ran all RAS_EDI tasks.
- Direct import into SAGE.
- Fast and accurate one pass import into SAGE with no re-keying of any data.
- Included a reports module which supplemented the SAGE report generator, and in particular, provided some reports that were not available or did not work properly inside SAGE.
- Could download data files directly from Spicers' and VOW's ftp servers, downloads could be individually scheduled.
